01. Take a look at your space I สำรวจพื้นที่ของคุณ เรามาเริ่มกันที่สเต็ปแรก ให้กลับมาสำรวจพื้นที่ ที่เรามีอยู่ก่อน ว่า ‘Space’ ของเราเป็นแบบไหน การกลับมาสำรวจ จะทำให้เราได้เห็นภาพกว้างก่อน ค่อยมองหา Living pain point ว่าที่ผ่านมาพื้นที่ตรงไหน เราอยากจะปรับปรุงอะไรเพิ่มขึ้นบ้างเพื่อให้การใช้ชีวิตในพื้นที่นั้นดีขึ้นกว่าเดิม การตระหนักรู้ตรงนี้จึงนำไปสู่แนวทางในการตกแต่งหรือจัดการกับพื้นที่แต่ละจุดใหม่ (Living Solution) ซึ่งการมองด้วยวิธีแบบ Design thinking นี้ก็จะช่วยเบิกแนวทางการตกแต่งใหม่ให้คุณได้มากเลยทีเดียว
ในส่วนของพื้นที่ ถ้าเรามองพื้นที่ภายในเป็นปริมาตร (Volume) การเกิดปริมาตรหมายถึงต้องมีการปิดล้อม มีรูปด้าน มีส่วนปิด มีการเปิดช่อง มีเว้นพื้นที่ว่าง เมื่อมีการเจาะช่องมีปริมาตร ก็จะมีเรื่องความสัมพันธ์ของทิศทางแสง ลมธรรมชาติ ที่ควรสอดคล้องกับฟังก์ชั่นการใช้งานในแต่ละห้อง
เมื่อกลับมามองพื้นที่และพิจารณาการตกแต่งห้องเดิม สิ่งที่มองข้ามไม่ได้คือเรื่อง วัสดุที่เลือกใช้ ไม่ว่าจะเป็นวัสดุกรุตกแต่ง วัสดุปูพื้น หรือเครื่องเรือนที่ใช้ วัสดุธรรมชาติ เช่น ไม้ หวาย ไม่ไผ่ หรือเหล็ก ทองเหลือง กระจก ล้วนสามารถสื่อสารความรู้สึกทางด้านอารมณ์ที่ต่างกัน ขนาดของสิ่งของตกแต่งที่สอดรับกับพื้นที่ใช้สอย รวมถึงรายละเอียดของผิวสัมผัสวัสดุที่เลือกใช้ ความมันวาว ผิวธรรมชาติ หรือผิวสัมผัสแบบมี groove หรือแม้กระทั่งผิวสัมผัสที่ผ่านร่องรอยการใช้งาน ล้วนสามารถเชื่อมโยงภาษางานออกแบบ เพื่อบ่งบอกอัตลักษณ์ อันสามารถเชื่อมโยงหรือแบ่งแยก space แต่ละพื้นที่ตามฟังก์ชี่นไว้ด้วยกัน
ให้คุณลองคิดว่าพื้นที่นี้สามารถกลายไปเป็นแบบไหนได้อีก หรือเหมาะสมกับสไตล์ใดบ้าง หรือมีพื้นที่ตรงไหนที่คุณคิดว่าเป็นตัวตนของบ้านเลยอยากจะชูจุดนั้นให้ชัดเจนขึ้น เช่น หากคุณอยู่คอนโดมิเนียม ที่มีพื้นที่ใช้สอยจำกัด การตกแต่งสไตล์โมเดิร์นหรือมินิมอล ที่เน้นโทนสว่างอย่างสีขาว เฟอร์นิเจอร์น้อยชิ้น หยอดด้วยพื้นที่สีเขียวพวกใบฟอรม์สวยเป็นจุดๆ ก็สามารถช่วยให้ห้องของคุณดูกว้าง สบายตา น่าอยู่ขึ้น ฯลฯ

Extravagance was not always the answer to a good home decoration. As beauty was subjective and functional need varied in each context. The key was the harmony between pleasant beauty that portrayed the owner’s identity, and some thoughtful functions responding to the resident’s living experience.
Many must have already had houses of their dreams. But we believe that once the decoration that truly represented you had been brought to action, that was when you’d feel the satisfaction, pride and pleasant living experience in which worth spending your time. For that, reflecting on decoration choices would have saved you time and money from wasting on what is not right for you.

01 Take a look at your space
First step was to re-explore your space. See the big picture. Spot the “living pain point” where you had always wanted to correct to make your daily routine in that area flow more smoothly. Recognizing the issue leaded to the accurate living solution. Such “Design Thinking” would bring great help in navigating you towards creative redecoration.
Space wise, think of the area as “Volume”. To establish a volume means to have multiple closing sides, forming a room with its close walls and its blank space. When there was a space, there was volume, along with the related light direction and natural wind flow.
When contemplated such idea about the space, re-consider your decoration. Another thing not to be overlooked is the “Material”, either in decorative wall paneling, flooring or furniture used. Different material communicated different sensibility e.g. wood, rattan, bamboo, metal, brass or mirror. The detail of each material’s texture whether glossy, natural, groovy, or even the “used” texture played significant part in the design language. Each distinguished texture could connect or separate spaces according to the intended function.
Try to think of what else the space could have turned into or what style would have suited it. Or if there was any essential part of the house that you’d want to emphasize? For example, if you lived in a condominium with limited space, Modern or Minimalist decoration style focusing on the use of light color palette e.g. white with minimum amount of furniture, if added green spots into sight with some plants of flattering forms could convey the spacious and homeliness feeling.
For those already had their go-to style in mind, to re-explore your space could help clarifying your decorating direction. Try to re-explore what part of the house that worked, or did not quite work for you. Compare the existing decoration style and the new to see how much change it really needed. Perhaps if your house was decorated in Contemporary, shifting it into a more modern appeal might actually needed just a few pieces of furniture adapted in to evoke some modern sense.
Tips : In re-exploration, you could reflect on how much impact the living space actually had on your daily lives, and how decoration affected our living sentiments. We’d recommend to keep an open mind, consider the space first, you might find it leading you to an unexpected style and result. You could still go for the style you first planned or even many styles combined, into whatever kind of space you worked with. Just be sure to see the big picture.
Home decoration did not necessarily need to stick to a single specific style. Give a chance for yourself to expand into unplanned interests, as long as it allowed you to fully express yourself.
