Here comes the time to truly make your space “your own”. Who’d had known, your existing private collection might just be the one to define your room’s new theme.
Many of you must have already had your go-to style in mind. You might not particularly define a style to which your taste belonged. Maybe it landed between two. After all, style titles like Minimal, Modern Mid-century, etc. were just brief frames. At the end of the day, it was up to a personal preference to pull off one’s own creativity.
In this episode, we took on the role of a flashlight shining on an idea that was right for you, picking what you actually wanted out of a pile of references and ideas that were previously gathered.
I. จำแนกไอเดีย List Ideas (Narrowing Down)
หลังจากที่ไปส่อง reference ต่างๆนาๆเพื่อเก็บข้อมูลมาแล้ว ลองนำมาขัดเกลาดูว่าห้องสไตล์ไหนที่เรารู้สึกว่า นี่แหละ ใช่ที่สุด ห้องเราต้องเป็นแบบนี้ ทริคที่เราแนะนำคือ เริ่มจากเลือกรูปภาพ 1 รูปที่อินสไปร์เราที่สุด จากนั้นลองนำมาลิสรายละเอียดดูว่า องค์ประกอบส่วนไหนในรูปนั้นที่อยากให้มีในห้องเรา เช่น โทนสี color scheme ของห้อง ของตกแต่งชิ้นไหน เฟอร์นิเจอร์ แสง หรือการจัดแต่งต่างๆ แล้วจึงค่อยนำรายละเอียดที่ลิสไปสร้างเป็น Mood Board ให้เห็นไอเดียเราชัดเจนยิ่งขึ้น

I. List Ideas (Narrowing Down)
After taking a look at references, try to narrow them down to a style that felt right the most. Tips, start from picking one image that inspired you the most, then zoom in for details of which you would have wanted in your own room, e.g. the room’s color scheme, decorating objects, furnitures, even lighting or arrangements. Make a list to create a mood board for clearer visuals.
II. วางไอเดียบน Moodboard
การสร้าง Moodboard คือการหยิบยกองค์ประกอบและรายละเอียดต่างๆมาวางรวมกันเพื่อให้เห็นภาพรวมของไอเดียนั้นชัดเจนขึ้นว่า สิ่งที่เราต้องการนั้นจะออกมาเป็นภาพแบบไหน บอร์ดที่ไว้ให้เราแปะรูปภาพต่างๆที่ให้แรงบันดาลใจมากที่สุด ช่วยให้เราปะติดปะต่อสไตล์หรือคอนเซปต์งานได้ชัดเจนยิ่งขึ้น และ Moodboard นี่แหละเป็นตัวช่วยสำคัญในการวางแผนของเหล่า Interior designer ทั้งหลาย
สำหรับการตกแต่งสไตล์ห้อง หลังจากที่เลือกรูป reference ของห้องที่อินสไปร์เราที่สุดมารูปหนึ่งแล้ว จากนั้นก็ให้ค่อยๆแตกองค์ประกอบของห้องนั้้นออกมา อย่าง
o โทนสี color palette ของห้อง
o เฟอร์นิเจอร์ของตกแต่ง
o Texture ที่อยากให้มีในห้อง
o อื่นๆ
และหากต้องการลงรายละเอียดลึกไปอีก เราสามารถตั้งจุดประสงค์ของ Moodboard ที่เราต้องการสร้างได้ เช่น บอร์ดนี้ตั้งใจจะรวมรายละเอียดของเฟอร์นิเจอร์ หรือบอร์ดนี้เพื่ออธิบายคอนเซปต์ color scheme หรือฟังก์ชั่นการใช้ห้องและโพสิชั่นการจัดของต่างๆ เป็นต้น
เพื่อไม่เป็นการหยุดยั้งแพชชั่นของการสร้างสรรค์ห้องนั้นให้เป็นจริงได้ หลายคนประสบปัญหาเมื่อเจอเฟอร์นิเจอร์ชิ้นงามตาม moodboard ที่คิดไว้ แต่ไซส์กลับไม่ได้ตรงตามขนาดห้องที่ต้องการเลย เช่น ใจคุณอยากจะได้ตู้ยุโรปสีขาวเล็กๆมาวางไว้ข้างผนังห้องมาก และใช้เวลานานกว่าจะหาชิ้นงานเฟอร์นิเจอร์ที่ตรงตามเรฟนั้นได้ แต่เมื่อเจอแล้วไซส์ก็ดันไม่ได้อีก

II. Place your idea onto a moodboard
To create a moodboard was to bring images of elements and details together to see the overall picture of how your project would look like, the group of selected inspiring images would gradually construct a solid concept. This moodboard was a key tool for interior designers in their design planning too.
To bring your decoration style into picture, after picking the one most inspiring image, list out visible key elements that made it what it was,
• The room color palette
• Decorative furnitures
• Visual textures
• Others
If you wished to go further into details, you could even set up separated purpose multiple moodboards i.e. a board noting furniture details, a board narrating color scheme concept, a board demonstrating room functions and furniture position arrangements, etc.
One of the obstacle in creating the desirable space was the furniture limitation. Many searched for the ideal piece precisely like in moodboard just to find out that its size was far from fitting. You wished for a small white European cabinet to place next to the wall and spent forever to find the one resembling your reference, what a shame it would had been if the size didn’t fit the room.

และแล้วก็ได้เวลานำภาพไอเดียใหม่ทั้งหมดที่ชัดเจนแล้ว มารวมกับไอเทมเดิมที่เรามีอยู่ นี่คือจุดสำคัญเลยแหละ ที่จะเป็นกิมมิค หรือเอกลักษณ์ส่วนบุคคล ของห้องที่เป็นตัวตนของเราเอง
เพราะเราเชื่อว่าของต่างๆที่อยู่ในห้องที่คุณเป็นคนเลือกเข้ามาย่อมมีความหมายต่อตัวเอง อย่างหลายคนที่มีของสะสมเฉพาะตัว นั่นก็สามารถเป็นอีกมุมหนึ่งที่จะช่วยจุดประกายไอเดีย หรือเป็นคอนเซปต์ของห้องได้เลยทีเดียว คุณอาจจะเป็นพนักงานออฟฟิศคนหนึ่ง ที่ทำงานหนักในช่วงระหว่างวัน แต่เมื่อกลับถึงบ้าน มาเจอห้องที่มีมุมเครื่องดนตรี ซีดี โปสเตอร์นักร้องในดวงใจ นี่ก็อาจจะเป็นประตูสู่อีกมิติของตัวเรา หรือเป็นสิ่งของของคนที่มีความฝัน ไว้ให้เขาได้มองเห็นตัวตนของเขาที่ชื่นชอบ และเป็นการเติมแรงบันดาลใจให้ทำตามฝันนั้นอยู่ตลอดเวลา
นอกจากนี้ก็อาจจะเป็นเฟอร์นิเจอร์ที่ตกทอดจากรุ่นสู่รุ่น ที่ทำให้คุณรู้สึกผูกพัน แต่ละชิ้นต่างก็มีดีเทลบางอย่างที่เป็นเอกลักษณ์และความหมายทางใจ และอาจจะถือเป็นตัวแทนที่สื่อถึงตัวตนของเรา

คุณสามารถแปะรูปเฟอร์นิเจอร์เดิมที่คุณมีอยู่ และตั้งใจจะไว้ในห้องใน Moodboard เลยได้ยิ่งดี เพื่อให้เห็นภาพรวมของความเข้ากันของสไตล์ที่เราอยากจะแต่งมากขึ้น ก็อาจจะทำให้เราได้มองเห็นถึงช่องว่างว่าเราต้องการอะไรมาเติมเต็ม
Tips : การรวบรวม Inspiration จากหลายๆทาง อาจทำให้เรากระจัดกระจายได้ในบางที ดังนั้น เมื่อรวบรวมเสร็จแล้วควรกลับมาชัดเจนกับตัวเองอีกทีว่าแบบไหนที่เราต้องการ หรืออาจจะพิจารณาจากความจำเป็นในหลายๆแง่มุมเช่น รูปแบบห้องเราที่มีอยู่ ทรัพยากร ความจำเป็น และความสามารถของเราที่จะทำตามได้

III. Adding “You” into the design
Finally it was time to bring the clarified new ideas to combine with your existing items. This was the moment of truth that revealed the unique gimmick that make your room yours.
We believed that the things already existing in your room were selected and brought in for its meanings towards you. Many had their private collection whose corner influenced the room’s entire concept. You might be an exhausted office employee coming home after a long day to your music corner with record players, CDs and posters of your favorite bands. This cherished corner opened the door to the passionate side of yourself, recharging the inspiration and keep your dream alive.
Beside this could have been some vintage furniture inherited in your family, filled with love and stories making them one of a kind. They also reflected who you were.
‘A meaningful item added an identity to a room’
It was recommended to include the existing furniture that you planned to keep in the room into your moodboard to see how or if it matched the style you were going for. So that you could figure out what else to acquire to fill the gap if there was any.
Tips: Gathering inspiration from various sources could be overwhelming so when finished researching. Reflect on what you actually want. You might consider from various aspects e.g. the nature of your space, resources, necessity and your ability to follow the reference.
