จากกลองมโหระทึก เดินทางมาสู่ฆ้องหรือกลองกบ หรือที่รู้จักในชื่อของ Rain Drums ในปัจจุบัน ถึงจุดประสงค์การใช้งานจะเปลี่ยนไป แต่ “ฆ้องกบ” ก็เป็นเฟอร์นิเจอร์ที่ AGAL ตั้งใจถ่ายทอดศิลปะ วัฒนธรรมโบราณ และสามารถส่งมอบประโยชน์ใช้สอย เพิ่มคุณค่าให้กับพื้นที่ได้ในชีวิตประจำวัน
ด้วยประสบการณ์และความรู้ที่สั่งสมจากวงการสะสมของเก่านั้น AGAL มองว่าฆ้องกบเป็นวัตถุชิ้นที่น่าสนใจด้วยหลากหลายเรื่องเล่าถึงที่มาของกลองที่นับได้ว่าเป็นหลักฐานที่บ่งบอกถึงการแลกเปลี่ยนวัฒนธรรมและเส้นทางการค้าร่วมกันระหว่างประเทศเวียดนาม ลาว พม่า และไทย ซึ่งในอดีตนั้น การลั่นฆ้องกบเกิดขึ้นได้จากหลายวัตถุประสงค์ ไม่ว่าจะเป็นประกอบพิธีกรรมความเกี่ยวกับตาย ขับไล่สิ่งชั่วร้าย รวมถึงใช้ประกอบพิธีขอฝน และพิธีอื่นๆ
โดยทาง AGAL ได้หยิบจุดประสงค์การลั่นกลองเพื่อขอฝนมาเป็นคอนเซ็ปต์ต้นทางในการออกแบบฆ้องกบในแบบฉบับของเรา ซึ่งเราได้คงลักษณะ รูปลักษณ์ดั้งเดิมของตัวกลองไปพร้อมกับใส่รายละเอียดเพิ่มเติม อาทิเช่น การใส่กบในพฤติกรรมสืบพันธุ์เพื่อสื่อสารถึงการมาถึงของหน้าฝนและความอุดมสมบูรณ์ในฤดูกาล อีกทั้งใส่ลายแฉกแปดทิศที่ตรงกลางของหน้าฆ้องก็เปรียบเสมือนพระอาทิตย์ รวมถึงรูปปั้นช้างและหอยอย่างละ 3 ตัวบริเวณข้างๆ ฆ้องกบที่ทาง AGAL หยิบนำมาสื่อสารถึงฤดูกาลและความสมบูรณ์ ควบคู่กับกบที่ประดับบนส่วนหน้าฆ้องนั่นเอง
นอกจากนี้ เรายังทำฆ้องกบด้วยสีและรูปทรงที่เราศึกษาอย่างตั้งใจว่าเป็นรูปทรงที่สวยในหมู่นักสะสมของเก่าและใช้สีผสมระหว่างสีเขียวจากสนิมและสีดำจากการใช้น้ำมันเคลือบรักษา อีกทั้งยังคงรายละเอียดอย่างเช่นห่วงคล้องข้างกลองที่บ่งบอกถึงการใช้งานสำหรับให้ไม้สอดเพื่อหิ้วฆ้องในพิธีการต่างๆ
ฆ้องกบจึงเป็นได้ทั้งเฟอร์นิเจอร์ที่วางประดับตกแต่ง เป็นโต๊ะเล็กคั่นระหว่างเก้าอี้รับรองแขก และเป็นได้ทั้งแสตนด์โชว์ที่ส่งต่อลวดลายที่บอกเล่าถึงเรื่องราวและวัฒนธรรม สร้างบรรยากาศ บ่งบอกตัวตนและรสนิยมให้กับพื้นที่นั้นๆ ได้เป็นอย่างดี

From Mahoratuek drum to the "Frog Drums" or the so-called "Rain Drums" of today, although the purpose has evolved, AGAL's "Frog Drums" is a piece of furniture that conveys ancient art and culture, while offering practical benefits to modern living spaces.
With experience and knowledge gained from the world of antique collection, AGAL sees the Frog Drums as an intriguing artifact that narrates the origin of drums, evidencing cultural exchanges and trade routes among Vietnam, Laos, Myanmar, and Thailand. Historically, these drums were struck for various purposes, from death ceremonies to warding off evil spirits, rain-making ceremonies, and other rituals.
AGAL has adopted the rain-making concept in our design of the Frog Drum. We've preserved the original form of the drum, adding details such as mating frogs to symbolize the onset of the rainy season and abundance. There's also the eight-pointed star in the center symbolizing the sun, along with elephant and shell motifs (three of each) on the sides, representing seasons and abundance in tandem with the frogs on the drum's face.
Additionally, we've designed the Frog Drum in shapes and colors carefully studied to appeal to antique collectors. We use a blend of green from the patina and black from the oil finishing. We've also retained details like the side rings of the drum, hinting at its ceremonial usage where poles were inserted for carrying during rituals.
Thus, the Frog Drums can serve as decorative furniture, a side table between chairs for guests, or even a display stand to convey stories and culture, enhancing any space with its history and aesthetic.
