คำว่า Tatsu (ทาสึ) ในภาษาญี่ปุ่นมีความหมายว่า “มังกร” จากเส้นสายที่ดูเรียบง่ายสุขุม แต่ซ่อนความทรงพลัง ตามความเชื่อของชาวจีนโบราณ มังกรเป็นสัตว์ที่ทรงพลังและศักดิ์สิทธิ์แห่งฟ้าและดิน เป็นสัญลักษณ์ที่นำมาซึ่งความสุข และความอุดมสมบูรณ์ของบ้านเมือง ที่สำคัญมังกรยังเป็นสัญลักษณ์ของตำแหน่ง หน้าที่การงาน ความทะเยอทะยาน มีความเป็นมิตรและมองโลกในแง่ดี อันเป็นความหมายที่มงคลของเก้าอี้นี้
ด้วยดีไซน์ที่คุ้นเคย แต่กลับดูร่วมสมัยขึ้นของ Tatsu Armchair ถูกพัฒนาและต่อยอดมาจาก “Officials Hat Armchair” ซึ่งเป็นเก้าอี้ที่หลังพิงมีลักษณะคล้ายหมวกของข้าราชการชาวจีน เดิมทีเก้าอี้ตัวนี้จะมีเส้นสายที่ไหลลื่น มีความโค้งเว้า ดูมีพลวัตร
ทีมได้นำแนวคิดของเก้าอี้ตัวเดิมนี้มาตีความใหม่ ปรับให้เส้นดูเรียบนิ่ง ให้ลักษณะของความเด็ดขาด แต่ยังคงเอกลักษณ์ความโค้งมนที่หลังพิง S-shape ปรับให้ระนาบหลังพิงมีความเหลื่อมและพนักพิงมีความสูงต่ำลดหลั่นกัน หลังพิงเราตั้งใจใช้ไม้สักชิ้นเดียวเพื่อให้ลายไม้ต่อกัน แม้ระนาบจะต่างกันแต่ยังสามารถรองรับสรีระของหลังได้เป็นอย่างดีเช่นเดิม ส่วนของขาเก้าอี้และเสาจะมีการปรับรายละเอียดให้มีความสอบเอียงและเหลาไม้ให้ส่วนปลายเพรียวขึ้น เพื่อให้ดูโมเดิร์นร่วมสมัยมากขึ้น
Tatsu Armchair ตัวนี้ยังคงกลิ่นอายความเป็นเอเชียและสื่อถึงความหมายดั้งเดิมได้เป็นอย่างดี เราอยากให้เก้าอี้ตัวนี้ซ่อนความหมายและเล่าเรื่องราวที่ถือว่าเป็นมรดกทางวัฒนธรรมอันเป็นมงคลและมีคุณค่า ส่งต่อความร่วมสมัยเพื่อให้เก้าอี้ตัวนี้ก้าวผ่านกาลเวลา และสามารถกลมกลืนเข้ากันได้กับทุกพื้นที่บ้านอย่างลงตัว
Tatsu Armchair
AGAL new piece, the fusion of antique and contemporary resulting in oriental serene simplicity, “Tatsu Armchair”.
The word “Tatsu” in Japanese means “Dragon”. Powerful force hidden behind a form constructed with simple lines. According to Chinese traditional practice, dragon was a sacred mighty beast of earth and heaven. A symbol bringing happiness and prosperity to the people. Most importantly, dragon also symbolized career high status, ambition, as well as kindliness and optimism, hence the meaningfulness of this chair.
Presented with a well known design with a twist, Tatsu Armchair was a contemporary reinterpretation of “Officials Hat Armchair”. The armchair whose backrest resembled the uniform hat of Chinese historical officers were originally occupied dynamic flowing curves. Our team had revisited the concept and adjusted the lines toward a more stable, decisive tone while preserving the unique S-shape backrest, the top rail of whose divided into two different ranging heights made from one single piece of teak to obtain continuing wood grain. Despite different top rail heights, the backrest was still brilliantly efficient in supporting the user’s back. Legs were adjusted into new tilting angles and made slimmer as well as the spindles. Giving a fresh modern appearance.
This Tatsu Armchair resonates Asian charm while still compelling its original blessing meaning.
